First Cohort of the Greem Pharmacy Instructor Training Program Graduates

i-Scream Media and Bundang Senior Welfare Center have wrapped up the first cohort of the "Greem Pharmacy" instructor training program, a senior cognitive art therapy program, with a completion ceremony held on August 12.

The training program was created to help seniors learn the Greem Pharmacy program firsthand and grow into instructors who can share that experience with older adults in their own communities. The course ran six sessions in total, from July 27 to August 12, at Bundang Senior Welfare Center.

Among the Bundang Senior Welfare Center members who applied to work as instructors, nine were selected, and all nine completed the full course without a single dropout. They took part actively in every session, showing strong interest in and commitment to teaching.

The curriculum was built in stages, ranging from theory classes that deepen understanding of the Greem Pharmacy program to hands-on practice with the tablet and its content, mock classes, and real fieldwork. Trainees also visited a senior center in Jeongja-dong, Seongnam, to run demonstration Greem Pharmacy classes with older adults, gaining both teaching experience and confidence in the field.

A satisfaction survey conducted after the course recorded a high overall average of 4.81 out of 5. Participants said that making art on a tablet sparked curiosity and enjoyment in a new experience, and they also praised the Greem Pharmacy content for its wide range of subjects and colors, including famous paintings.

Others noted that the curriculum, moving from theory lectures to practical sessions and then to real fieldwork, was systematic and practical enough to build the skills and confidence an instructor needs. Beyond simply learning a new program, participants said they found a sense of reward and social participation in being able to pass the Greem Pharmacy activities they had learned on to their peers.

Together with the instructors trained in this course, i-Scream Media and Bundang Senior Welfare Center will visit senior centers across Seongnam for about eight weeks from September through October to run the Greem Pharmacy program.

The visits are meant to give older adults who find it hard to travel to the welfare center a chance to experience the many cognitive art activities of Greem Pharmacy close to home, while giving the newly trained senior instructors a place to put their skills to work in their own communities.

A new chapter now begins for the Greem Pharmacy senior instructors, carrying them from the joy of learning to the reward of sharing.
